Repair First: Our Philosophy
Here is something the replacement-only companies will not tell you: most gutter problems are repairs, not replacements. A gutter that drips at one seam does not need to be torn off the house. A section that sags between hangers does not need all new gutters — it needs the pitch reset and better hangers. We built our reputation on fixing what is actually broken and telling you when the honest answer is that the system is done. About half the "replace everything" quotes we see on second opinions turn into repairs once we look.
The Repairs We Do Every Week
Leaking seams and corners. Sectional gutters leak where pieces join — it is the nature of the design. We clean the joint, reseal it properly, and fasten it so it stays. Inside corners on Baltimore colonials are the usual suspects.
Sagging runs. Gutters full of wet debris get heavy, old spike-and-ferrule hangers loosen, and the run sags. Water pools in the low spot instead of flowing to the downspout. We re-pitch the run and replace the hangers with hidden hangers screwed into the rafter tails — the fix lasts.
Loose and missing hangers. You can spot this from the ground: the gutter pulling away from the fascia, or a wavy line along the roof edge. We refasten with proper hangers spaced correctly — not just another spike in a rotted hole.
Downspout problems. Disconnected elbows, crushed sections, downspouts dumping water right at the foundation. We reconnect, replace damaged sections, and add extensions that carry water away from the house.
End caps and miters. End caps pop, outside corners split. Small parts, big drips — we replace them.
How It Works: Our Process
Step 1 — Free visit. Call or send the form. We come out and look at the whole system, not just the spot you noticed.
Step 2 — Diagnosis and written estimate. We show you what is wrong, explain the fix, and price it. Every project is different — contact us for a free written estimate.
Step 3 — The repair. Most repairs take a few hours. We match materials and color as closely as possible.
Step 4 — Water test. We run water through the repaired section to prove it flows and does not leak before we pack up.
When Repair Stops Making Sense
We will tell you straight when a gutter is past repairing. The signs: rust eaten all the way through in multiple spots, gutters so bent or crushed they will not hold pitch, or a system where every seam leaks because the whole run has shifted. At that point you are paying for repair visits every year, and new seamless gutters are the cheaper long-term answer. Our repair vs. replace guide walks through the decision in detail.
The Fascia Question
Sometimes the gutter is fine but what it hangs from is not. If the fascia board behind the gutter is soft or rotted, new hangers have nothing solid to bite into — and the repair will fail again. We check the fascia on every repair visit. If it needs work, we handle fascia board repair too, so the gutter fix actually holds.
Storm Damage
Baltimore's summer thunderstorms and the occasional nor'easter do a number on gutters — ladders' worth of branches, wind-torn sections, downspouts ripped off by falling limbs. If a storm hit your gutters, call us before the next rain. A disconnected downspout dumping a roof's worth of water against your foundation for a week can do real damage, and the fix is usually quick if we catch it early.
Most repairs take a single visit. We carry common hangers, sealant, and downspout parts on the truck, so small jobs finish the same day we quote them.
